Rhode Island Contract Update

Brothers and Sisters,

We’re building Rhode Island’s future, and we want our families to be a part of it. We know many of you have been working through this pandemic to meet the demands of the state’s recent building boom.

At Local 17, we’re committed to fighting for you and your family. We’re here to make sure your wages always reflect the hard work, unparalleled skill, and quality craftsmanship you bring to your job sites every day.

For that reason, we’ve voted to go on strike beginning Saturday, June 6, which marks the expiration of our current contract. Please note that all members will be expected to report to work tomorrow, Friday, June 5.

We know our work in sheet metal makes Rhode Island buildings safer, and sharing the benefits of the state’s building boom with workers makes our communities stronger. It’s our duty to ensure the next generation of sheet metal workers can afford to stay in this state that we’re helping to build.

More updates will be made in the coming days. If you have questions, please call myself or Business Agent Bobby O’Brien.

In Solidarity,

Bob Butler
