Historic Streetcars, Modern Craft: Senator Driscoll Tours Everett MBTA Shop

Published On: March 24, 2026

Historic work in action!

Massachusetts State Senator William Driscoll Jr. (Norfolk/Plymouth/Bristol) visited our Everett MBTA shop on Monday, March 23, to see our team refurbishing and rebuilding Mattapan PCC streetcars—originally built in the 1940s.

Our members are currently working on streetcar #5, with 4 having already been completed and are back in service! Proud of our skilled sheet metal workers keeping history rolling.

Left to right: Senator Driscoll, Local 17 Sheet Metal Workers Union Rep. Rob Maloney, MBTA Foreman Angelo Kapetanakos, and MBTA Shop Stuart Darren Digravio.
